Défi 2009: The Podium |
June 2009 |
| The LCI Lannion team has once again participated in the Défi des Entreprises (Company Sports Challenge Competition) that takes place every year in the Lannion region and this time managed to grab 2nd place on the podium! This feat represents an enormous progression from 2008 when they finished 8th overall. On the successive Saturdays of May 30th and June 6th the Défi brought together over 300 employees from the Trégor region to compete in the various (more or less) sporting events. The small and distinctly feminine LCI Lannion agency competed in collaboration with two other rather more masculine ; small companies to form 10 teams. The programme for the highly motivated top office athletes included: bowling, swimming, pétanque, aquathlon (swimming + running race), mini-rugby and beach volley ball. Two fun days that were concluded with a pleasant evening of cocktails and prize-giving and an opportunity to exchange ideas with the participants from other companies and of course to clearly state the shared dream of finally claiming the trophy in 2010! http://www.defi-des-entreprises.asso.fr/ |

It was the ideal occasion to meet students from many different walks of life and identify or even recruit future trainees or collaborators for the company. Troyes University of Technology (UTT) trains engineers and offers a Masters in ‘Science, Technology and Health’ and postgraduate diplomas. The UTT, a public establishment, forms part of the network of technological universities with the UTC, the UTBM and the UTS. LCI at the heart of student innovation at the UTBM |
December 2008 |
| On the 1st and 2nd of October 2008, LCI took part in the 24th Industrial Congress of the Technological University of Belfort-Montbéliard entitled “The Engineer at the Heart of Innovation". Over the course of two these days organised by the university's student union, industrial and academic speakers discussed the innovative techniques used and created by today's engineers as well as the expected results and challenges the engineers of tomorrow will face. At the same time, LCI was able to take part in the Etudiants-Entreprises (Students and Businesses) forum that this year welcomed over 30 industry professionals. The forum represented a meeting place for LCI and students of general engineering hoping to meet professionals and perhaps secure internships or future jobs. It furthermore presented the careers which already exist in the world of technical communication, alongside the ways in which LCI support the implementation of our clients’ technical solutions. LCI was particularly well received by the students who showed professionalism, conscientiousness and enthusiasm, and the company hopes to be part of the experience again next year. L’UTBM (The Technological University of Belfort-Montbéliard, created in 1999,) is a public institution with scientific, cultural and professional interest, training engineers to be rapidly ready to enter the industry, and ensure their exceptional adaptability in a changing technological and social environment. The UTBM is a member of the technological universities network, along with Troyes, Compiègne and now Shanghai, and is the result of the merging of two higher education establishments - l'Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Belfort (1962), (Belfort National School of Engineers), and l'Institut Polytechnique de Sévenans (Sévenans Polytechnic) – an annexe of Compiègne established in 1985. ![]() |

Pau basketball team gets a new look ! |
December 2008 |
| For the 2nd season in a row, Elan Béarnais Pau-Orthez, the Pau basketball team, chose LCI to create their new graphic design range. The new designs will be displayed on 4x3 panels, in Pau bus stops, and in pre-game advertisements. Having made a name for themselves in 2005 with the graphic designs used in items sent to club sponsors and partners, LCI's graphic designers and artists highlighted the family and spectator aspects. The designs give a feel for the atmosphere when big games make the stadium beat to the rhythm of a passion for sports. Ranking 9th at the end of the 2007–2008 season and a long-time member of the French basketball elite (PRO A), EBPO now hopes to bounce back and take off with new momentum. LCI Rennes organises an international conference call covering 26 countries for PSA |
November 2008 |
| The DF/DCNC division (Financial Division / Accounting and Accounting Standards Division) of PSA chose LCI to organise a conference call seminar with 150 participants in 26 countries (list attached) at Poissy, on 22 October 2008. 5 speakers conducted the conference in French. They presented the new accounting and financial standards (translated into English by LCI) to which all the participants had access via PSA's intranet. Two specialist interpreters, together with the equipment necessary for simultaneous interpreting (booth, control room, sound system, technical support, etc.) were dispatched to the Poissy site. At the same time, we set up 150 international telephone lines. PSA was given one telephone number for the French part of the conference (where only the speakers' words were transmitted) and a second telephone number for the English part (where only the simultaneous translation by the interpreters was transmitted). A virtual forum was thus created so that the participants could ask their questions when the presentations were concluded. The questions arrived on the PC of one of the speakers who acted as moderator by relaying the questions to the relevant speakers, while the entire dialogue was simultaneously interpreted. This "virtual telephone" seminar took place in both French and English with significant technical resources implemented for the event and translators specialising in field of finance. |

After Chicago and Paris, Laurent GARNIER ran the 2006 New York Marathon in the colors of LCI |
November 2006 |
The New York Marathon is one of the biggest running events in the world, attracting over 37,000 runners from all kinds of backgrounds and nationalities. Beyond the lucrative prize of over 600,000 US dollars, a fantastic atmosphere created by 2 million spectators lining the course and 315 million watching at home boosted the moral of all those taking part. Out of the 700,000 who took part in the previous marathons, none of them would deny that crossing the finish line in Central Park is one of the greatest feelings one could ever experience in a lifetime! More information at www.nycmarathon.org Our very own Laurent Garnier, director of one of our instruction engineering centers, once again beat his own marathon record this year with a time of 4 hours 13 minutes and 9 seconds, which was 9 minutes less than his last marathon (Paris, April 2006) and 38 minutes less than the one he ran in Chicago in October 2005!
